Have you ever had a flashback to how difficult life was a few decades ago? Where you had to flip through the pages of a book to conduct research;  and walk a short distance to your TV to tune the channels?

You can admit that it was a rigorous task. But today, things have changed and everything can be remotely controlled – from garage doors to kids’ toy cars, and down to TV sets – all these and more can now be controlled by remote devices.

But like every manufactured product in the world, things get damaged or just stop working after some time, and this includes the Insignia Fire TV remote control. However, if your Insignia Fire TV remote suddenly stops working, there is a way to fix it.

How to fix an Insignia Fire TV remote that is not working

An Insignia Fire TV remote could stop working as a result of several factors. There are different techniques to fixing an Insignia Fire TV remote that is not working. There is a high chance that the Insignia Fire TV remote will begin to work again if you apply the do-it-yourself methods highlighted here. Here are some of them:

Tip 1

Open up the back of the remote and remove one of the batteries. After that is done, unplug the TV from the wall socket and wait for about 60 seconds before plugging the TV back to the wall switch. Once the TV is back up, put back the battery to the remote. If your remote works, great! But if not, then try the next method.

Tip 2

Press the home button for about 10 seconds, then release the home button and wait for about 30 seconds before using the remote again. If this still doesn’t work, follow through with the next method.

Tip 3

Pull out the back of the remote, remove both batteries, then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. After that is done, press every single button multiple times because if one of the buttons is stuck, it could be as a result of body lotion or a spill of liquid that has poured on the remote. After you have pressed the different buttons multiple times, put back your battery and check if you now have a working remote. If the remote doesn’t function after the first trial, repeat the process the second time.

You can also try disassembling the remote control to check for dust. While disassembling the remote control, be wise not to break any delicate part; if you find dust on the motherboard, gently use cotton wool with a little spirit to clean off the dirts before recoupling the remote again.

Tip 4

If the previous method didn’t work, try replacing the old batteries with fresh ones. It could be that the old batteries are weak and due for a change. If not changed, the remote might cease to function.

Tip 5

If the remote fails to work after replacing the batteries, order for a replacement. You can find a replacement remote of the same brand on Amazon or other online shops; or better still, visit their offline stores.
