JBL Speaker Not Turning On: Possible Fixes

1. Turn it on

It could be that you are not turning on your JBL speaker correctly. First, press the power button on the device to put it on. All you simply need is to find its location on the device. If you have done this properly and it is still not powering on, then you may need to contact the customer service – but not before trying a few other tips.

2. Charge it

Don’t draw a hasty conclusion that your JBL speaker is not turning on without ensuring that it is properly charged. The device will always turn off in situations where the battery is low, the charging port is damaged, the charging cable is damaged, or certain in-built protection features are at work.

You can replace the charging cable or seek a technician’s help. Although it is often advisable to keep your JBL speaker fully charged, constant charging to full capacity can make it expire too quickly. Maintain a moderate attitude to charging your speaker. The JBL customer service can help if you have any problem, but you can still try a few things before asking for help – especially when you do not know what the problem is.

It is possible that your device is charging but not turning on. This can put users in some kind of dilemma. A broken or worn-out power button may be the problem. The charging port and other hardware parts that connect to charging may be faulty too. Don’t forget to try other cables to see if your cable is responsible for your device’s failure to turn on.

3. Do a reset

Try resetting your JBL speaker by pressing the volume and Bluetooth buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds. Furthermore, you can reset the charge-along with the speaker by pressing the play/pause and volume button until a glow is visible on the power button.

Generally, most issues associated with JBL speakers are resolved in this way. But if it does not fix your JBL speaker, there are more tips you can still try. It could be a hardware problem and you should not neglect that. Resetting is synonymous with doing a software fix. Reset the JBL charge as well by pressing the play/pause and volume up buttons.

4. Consider changing the battery

It may be that your expired or faulty battery is the reason your device is not turning on.  Use a new battery to see if it makes any difference.  If there are no hardware problems, it will turn on when you replace the battery.

To change the battery, turn off the speaker. Remove the speaker trim using a metal spudger and not your thumb. Also, remove the 6 mm screws from the cover of the battery (they are often five). Remove the battery cover. You will find a liquid electric tape that attaches the battery in the place.

Then carefully remove the battery using a spudger. Ensure that the battery is not punctured by using a nylon spudger. You’ll also need to remove the 16 mm screw that is under the battery to ensure that the wires connecting the battery are not damaged. Furthermore, remove the 16 mm screws that are on the white plastic casing using a screwdriver (PH2).

You also need to remove the back casing from the speaker using a metal spudger on the seam lines. Start from one corner of the device and when fully detached, disconnect the white connectors from the board and the upper casing. The back casing is primarily where you need to do a few things.

Remove the battery cable using a sharp razor blade to cut through the glue. The battery cables are delicate, so be careful not to cut them. Get rid of the foam surrounding the battery cage too. Then, pull the battery cable through the hole to finally remove the battery. If this doesn’t fix it, your technicians’ help may be necessary to resolve the problem.
