Here is the ideal way to fix an LG TV that goes off and ticks. But before using our guide, consult the owner’s manual for more advice and ensure that you have DIY experience.  Now here are the steps needed to handle an LG TV that clicks.

1. Gather Your Tools

Before working on your TV, you will have to get the right tools for the job. Usually, you can get these tools from any hardware. They include the following items:

  • Pliers
  • Soldering Iron
  • Wire Cutters
  • Philips Screwdriver
  • Capacitor

2. Dismount the TV

To get started, you will have to unplug the TV from its power source. Depending on the position of your TV, you should then remove the TV from the wall or stand. Then lay it face down on a surface covered with a soft material.

3. Disassemble Your TV

Grab the screwdriver and remove the screws at the back of your TV. Before performing this task, ensure that the TV is laid flat.

4. Take a Picture of the Board

Before removing the board from your LG TV, you should take a quick photo of it. When it comes down to it, this shot helps you with the reassembly.

5. Disassemble the LG TV

Tug the connector to remove the power harnesses. Then, remove the screws that held the board down.

6. Check for Bad Capacitors

Look for the signs of a bad capacitor. With this in mind, you should look out for signs of bulging and leakage.

7. Get another Shot

Before removing the capacitor, take another picture of the setup. With this shot, you can reassemble the board without any issues.

8. Mark the Capacitor

Turn the board over and locate the points that came from these capacitors. Then mark these areas with a sharpie pen.

9. Take Out the Bad Capacitor

Allow your plugged soldering iron to heat properly. As your friend holds the circuit board, apply the soldering iron to the areas marked with sharpies. Continue this soldering process until the lead melts.

Then go to the other end and perform the same process. Repeat the procedure on every capacitor that requires replacement.

10. Install New Capacitors

Use the pictures of your board to insert the new capacitors. Then secure them by bending their ends. Also, clip the leads to leave about “1/8” of the end

11. Secure the Capacitors

Ensure that the capacitors are well-secured by using the soldering on the leads. After soldering the capacitors, clean out all the mess with a damp cloth.
