2007 Chevy Impala Engine Maintenance Recommendations

When the engine of your Chevrolet Impala 2007 is due for a change, the computer system in the car senses this and alerts you immediately. At this time, you’ll see this message on the Driver Information Centre (DIC): CHANGE OIL SOON.

Once you see this message, you should change your oil as soon as possible within the next 1000 km (600 miles). Even if this message doesn’t come up in your car over a long time, you must change your engine oil and oil filter at least once a year.

When your car’s engine oil level drops, you’ll see the ENGINE OIL LOW ADD OIL message in the DIC. Once you see this message, check your engine oil level immediately. As a recommendation, ensure to check your engine oil level every time you get fuel.

To get an accurate reading, be sure that the vehicle is parked on level ground and the oil is warm. Before checking your engine oil level at any time, turn off the engine for several minutes to allow the oil to settle back into the oil pan. If you don’t allow enough time, your dipstick might show a level that is lower than the actual quantity.

Then pull out the dipstick, clean it dry with tissue paper or a cloth, then push it back all the way down. Then pull it out again and check the level. If the level is lower than the “LOW” mark on the dipstick, you’d need to add some more oil. Avoid adding too much oil to your engine. If the engine oil is so much that it rises higher than the upper mark on your dipstick, it could damage your engine.

The recommended oil viscosity grade for the 2007 Chevrolet Impala is 5W-30. Do not use other viscosity oils, as they may damage your engine. Also, do not add anything to the oil.
