Most faults with the Bosch refrigerator ice maker are minor issues that you can fix without requesting a technician’s help. It is not a bad idea if your technician helps, but sometimes you can do a quick fix without professional assistance.
Bosch Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working: DIY Checks and Fixes
First of all, you must disconnect all electrical connections before handling any electrical part of the refrigerator. It is important that you do this to ensure your safety. Then, carefully try our quick-fix tips.
1. Check if the water is on
Your Bosch refrigerator is likely working fine. This can happen if your refrigerator was newly installed. It may not make ice until after 24 hours. If this is not the case for your refrigerator, ensure that the water for the refrigerator is on and check waterlines to ensure proper connection.
2. Check if the ice maker is on
Try to locate where the on/off switch of your Bosch ice maker is and check if the switch is on. If it is off, the refrigerator won’t make ice as you want. You’ll need some hints on where to find your ice maker switch because they are not often located in the same place.
Gently remove the ice bucket to check for the switch inside the ice maker. If it is not found there, you can feel the area under the ice tray and bucket with your hands if there is a switch. The location of the switch may vary based on the Bosch refrigerator model you have.
3. Check the water filter
The problem may be that your Bosch refrigerator water filter is not working. This can happen due to poor installation or faults. 6. Ice in your ice maker
The ice maker in your refrigerator is meant to make ice and not store them. So, when there is a buildup of ice, it will malfunction and may not produce ice. Defrosting may help remove the buildup of ice. You can use a hairdryer, very hot dish clothe to get rid of the ice. However, if your refrigerator model came with a defrost function, use it to remove the ice buildup.
7. Water pressure is not up to 20-120 psi
It takes maximum water pressure for the refrigerator to produce ice. Water passes through the water inlet valve to the ice maker at a pressure between 20-120 psi. If the pressure is not adequate, it won’t make ice. Check the water pressure using a water pressure gauge.
8. Check the door switch
If the door switch is disconnected during installation or by mistake when closing the door, it can stop the ice maker from producing ice. You can easily put it on to restore efficient functioning. But if it is faulty, you may need a technician’s help.
