Fitbit Sleep Tracker Not Working: How to Fix

Do you have a Fitbit with poor sleep tracking? If yes, you can use the following steps to get things sorted out. But before using our guide, it would help if you checked the owner’s manual of your tracker.

1. Wear the Tracker Properly

Before the tracker can offer a reading, it would help if you wore it correctly on your arm. Start by moving the watch to your dominant arm. Then make sure that the Fitbit is snug around the wrist.

If the sleep tracker does not work, move the device to another arm and keep it slightly tight. Then check if the sleep tracker works.

2. Avoid the Sleep Now button

On the Charge model, there is a Sleep Now button. According to some users, using this button might result in poor sleep pattern reading. However, they noticed that the watch provides better readings without hitting the button.

Like these users, you can improve the Fitbit readings by wearing the watch to bed. As you go to bed, do not touch the Sleep Now button on your watch.

3. Charge Your Battery

Sometimes the reason for a poor reading can be a bad battery. So any time you have issues with your sleep tracker, check the status of your battery. If it’s low, plug it into a power outlet and make sure it has at least 80% worth of power.

4. Get the Right Amount of Sleep

To get the right sleep pattern readings, make sure you have at least 3 continuous hours’ worth of sleep. If you sleep for lesser periods, the sleep tracker will not work as expected.

5. Reboot the Tracker

Are you still having issues with the Fitbit heart tracker? If yes, then you might have to restart the device. For the best results, you can use the following steps:

For the Versa, Sense, and Iconic models:

  • Press and hold the button for 10 seconds
  • Wait for the logo to appear on the screen and release the button.

If you are using the Charge 5 and Luxe models:

  • Swipe down the screen
  • Click on the Settings app
  • Hit Restart Device – Restart

6. Use the App

As soon as the Fitbit starts to act weird, you will have to go to play around with some settings. But instead of working on the tracker itself, you should focus on the app itself.

  • Launch the Fitbit Sleep tracker
  • Pull down the Home Screen from the top
  • Check if the Sleep tracker works

7. Reinstall the App

Do you have the Fitbit Sleep App on your mobile device? If yes, then you will have to uninstall and reinstall the device before getting a perfect reading.

For Android devices:

  • Go to the Apps page of your device
  • Hold the Fitbit app icon and click Uninstall
  • Go to the Playstore and install the Fitbit app
  • Launch the app and check if the sleep tracker works.
